Overlap-based Assessment

We have compared our approach with a 'gold standard' method of assessment, which uses a generalisation of Tanimoto's spatial overlap measure [1].

2#2

A manual mark-up of each image, is used to provide an anatomical/tissue label for each voxel. The overlap of corresponding labels following registration is defined as

19#19 (1)

where 20#20 indexes voxels in the registered images, 21#21 indexes the label and 22#22 indexes image pairs and 23#23 is a label weight. 24#24 and 25#25 represent voxel label values in a pair of registered images and are in the range [0, 1]. The 26#26 and 27#27 operators are standard results for the intersection and union of fuzzy sets.
