Progress Report
March 21st, 2006
Overview
- ISBI Poster
- BMVC - template, CVPR re-use, needed discussion
- MIUA, Manchester - theme is similar to that of the ISBI paper, placeholder is ready
- Form 12
- Thesis structure
- Organisational activities
- Departure from Manchester Computing
Form 12 Meeting - Subsequent Work
- Re-written a thesis outline, merely from the ground up
- Much 'cleaner' than that previous plan, which was a draft
- There is still refinement work to be done before it becomes coherent
- Re-wrote the text in Form 12
- It complies with what you suggested during the meeting
Tasks Left Ahead
- Various notes on remaining tasks
- Normalisation reading
- Milstones: 3-D efficiency, entropy-based normalisation, 3-D experiments
- Occasional submissions
Poster for ISBI
- Made some good progress with the poster
- Produced using LATEX
- Before going any further, need to know if the general layout looks reasonable
- The content seems less relevant at this early stage
- Some content only serves as a placeholder
- Still working on the text of the poster
BMVC 2006 Submission
- Had a first go at the BMVC paper (see attachment in E-mail)
- BMVC submission will be re-use of the rejected submission to CVPR
- Paper due before leaving for ISBI
- Deadline is the 10th, which means we must submit before departing for ISBI
- Textual content attached and bound to template
- Deadline date: April 10th
MIUA 2006 Submission
- MIUA is due by the 24th, so plenty of time to spare
- Put together a good starting point for an MIUA submission
Complete Form 12
- A chance to look at the modification made to form 12 and the new thesis outline
- 6 Reference need more space (second page to fit properly)
- Agree on date for thesis submission or reconvene
Technical Milestones Ahead
- Work on pseudo-entropy in graphs
- Literature on the topic - papers on fitting, estimate and understand the behaviour, take account of data, dimensionality, set sizes, etc.
- Mockup data, random training sets, synthesis
- 10,000 synthetic images overnight?
- Unsubmitted paper, which was intended for MICCAI, still worth completing
- 3-D data from Kola, optimisations to code, and experiments
Work Department and Other Activities
- MCC - I resigned, last Thursday was last day
- More time to concentrate fully on the Ph.D.
- Organisation matters: travel, communication, backups
