I have never heard of this trick, but it sounds like you got yourself
stuck in a box by setting up such an abnormal filter.
Is there any other characteristic to mail from that spammer? Maybe the
route via which the message is sent? The subject line? You can block
messages by "Sender's Name" as well as "Sender's Address" I believe. If
so, when copying a message to yourself, you can use a different Sender's
Address.
Speaking of filters, I set up box-trappers for 4 of my E-mail account
today. The sender needs to confirm a human identity in order to pass a
message through. Excellent mechanism, I must say. Let me know if you
want a box or a forwarder on one of my domains. I have almost 50
accounts to spare. Using a forwarder, you can create (/derive) very
robust filters.
