how do I prevent pics from being copied from my web page.

You can't. The whole concept of the web means that your entire page, including all graphics, is copied on to the harddisk of your visitor. Ever looked at your browsers cache? Everything is there.
You can Google for javascripts that claim to prevent visitors stealing your pictures, but I've up till now not seen a page that actually succeeded. If I notice that (for example) my right click function of my mouse is disabled, I just leave that website.

You can however 'disable' the IE image toolbar. I have, as I don't want to encourage my visitor. Put <meta http-equivalent="imagetoolbar" content="no"> in the head section of your html pages.

Next to that, claim copyrights clairly for what is actually your work.

That's about all you can do. You can always choose not to publish. That is a safe bet that noone can steal your work.
