Fully discharged or fully charged, the "lightning bolt" stays until you
remove the handheld from the charger.

Frankly, this is one of those things that really makes you wonder about the
designers at Palm/palmOne.  How difficult would it have been to have the
icon alternate between the lightning bolt and a "percent of charge" number
throughout the charging cycle?
