I never bought something as expensive as a laptop from eBay, but I had some
bad experiences with hardware. I once received a monitor that was not
compatible. An argument with the seller was futile because he did not have
a shop and neither did I know his address or full contact details.
Be suspicious and ask questions. Also, ensure the seller has good feedback,
preferably for similar items.

You can ask why it is cheaper than usual. Was it opened by a customer and
then returned to the shop? Does that brand have a common failure?
Hope it helps,
