It took me quite a few hours to set it up, but there you go:

-Get http://www.schestowitz.com/temp/ransig.tar.gz (I can't remember where I
found it, but it was _very_ old).

-The code was compiled under SuSE, so you might have to re-compile.

-Put the executable it in a sensible and memorable path, e.g. in my case
file:/home/roy/Main/Programs/HTML_Tools/ransig/randsig

-Create .signature.main in your home directory (top level) and have it
contain:

[t

(that's just two characters above, my solution was not elegant)

-Create .signature.tags and have it contain:

[*Roy S. Schestowitz "ASCII stupid question, get a stupid ANSI"
http://Schestowitz.com*]
[*Roy S. Schestowitz "How do I set my laser printer on stun?"
http://Schestowitz.com*]
[*Roy S. Schestowitz "World ends in five minutes - please log out"
http://Schestowitz.com*]
[*Roy S. Schestowitz "No, I didn't buy that from eBay"
http://Schestowitz.com*]

-At the point, be aware that .signature will be overridden. I used to just
echo signatures from .signature.tags , but some mail clients do not allow
you to make signatures an executable. KMail and KNode, for example, support
the feature; Thunderbird does not.

-Set up the cron job, e.g.:

5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50,55,0 * * * * nice
/home/roy/Main/Programs/HTML_Tools/ransig/randsig

-Test

-Let me know that all works well.
