Obviously your printer is "stopped", which happens if
you try to print something and your printer is still
turned off.
If this happens you don not have to reinstall the print
service (that applies only to M$ OS ;) ), but only
"start" your printer.
Assuming you are using cups, take the following steps:
1. You have to have an administration account with cups
Open a root shell ( or normal shell and "su root".
type "lpasswd -a root" and enter. You are prompted
for a password (which MUST contain Characters and
Numbers). Note that the name "root" DOES NOT HAVE
ANYTHING TO DO with the user root, you can choose
   this name freely.

This first step you have to do only once, to get an
administration account.

2. If your printer stops, open a Browser (Konqi, Opera,
Firefox, anything will do) and got to
   http://localhost:631
This is the administration page of Cups. Select
Printers, and you probably will see yout printer
whith a "start" button. Press the Button and you
will be prompted for the administration name and
password you have made in step 1.

Your printer will now be started and any queued jobs
are printed.

Hope that helps..
