That's a huge amount of downtime. I think that translates into something like a couple hours a month?

Not quite, more like 43 minutes and 48 seconds each month average. Over a whole year that would come to 8 hours, 45 minutes and 36 seconds. Not bad in the grand scheme of things.


Of course, it depends on what you are using the host for. Joe Blogs (Jon Doe) hosting his homepage is unlikely to be worried about ~9 hours a year downtime even if they all came at once, but for other folk it might be a much bigger disaster.
