Peter, please come to accept that many people approach UseNet because they
seek advice from an actual person who can tailor the response to the
particular scenario and, if needed, metaphorically hold hands in the process
of going through troubleshooting until success.

I am playing 'OP advocate' here, but could in principle go either way. Lost
passwords are a common issue that must have been discussed to death in a
variety of contexts including MySQL. I suggest using newsgroups as a
'fallback' option. COLA might not be the best place to ask this question
either. Wintrolls can become disruptive when Linux issues are raised.
