Apple replaced "it's" OS by using a mashup of BSD and Mach.

The Microsoft equivalent would be...well, to start selling Linux.


Incompetence and lack of direction, I suspect.


Same as Apple. If Jobs hadn't returned, bringing the detritus of Next, MacOS would be a total mess.
