| In the last couple of years, Google has started to interact more with
| the opensource community, on whose technologies it depends so much. As
| well as employing those on the left and many others involved in
| opensource, it has begun to release internal tools, now provides an
| opensource project hosting service and runs the very cool Summer of
| Code initiative. These are definitely not trivial undertakings. For
| instance I used the following bash snippet to show that Google spent
| $3,005,000 on the 601 projects in the Summer of Code 2006.
