Linux was ready for deployment in 1998.  KDE and Gnome were mature enough
and the applications were too.  Industry was slow to adopt and FUD campaign
ran thick.  (Tucker automobile does not have a reverse gear!)  However, I
believe that tide is changing.  There is now a sufficient installation base
that gives IT staff favourable feedback.
