Have you looked at MagPie RSS (Sourceforge project) or its siblings? There
may be place for reuse or conversion, but it sounds as though editing Perl
is needed. And while it's not too hard to write Perl, understanding it and
modifying it (second-hand) can be hard. Consider hiring John Bokma maybe...?
