I think the intent remains to drive away those who are being paid to troll
the newsgroups.
Meanwhile, despite the trolling, Linux will continue to make progress. As
it's not bound to any company and essential funding source, development
continues in the Linux world (no holidays). Just look at the amount of
project releases that are setting the tone these days... hmmm... just a bit
of an off-topic thought...
