I believe that the subject line should have contained the body of your
message. The subject line was more suitable for the message body as it
allows better archival of the answer/solution and leads to fewer people
reading the message in vain.

Also see the more flexible command-line tool, which is called 'import' (run
'man import' for some details and example). The GIMP incorporates the
ability to snatch and edit screenshots as well. The typical path where it
can be found:

K -> Graphics -> Editors
