If you go for a Palm[1], you can use kpilot under SuSE. It's painless, it has
an intuitive setup wizard, and requires no installations of any kind. I used
to synchronise mail with Thunderbird on Windows 98, but I don't know how
this would work in Linux because I never tried (I find mail on handhelds
highly impractical). Yet, there are mail conduits too and there are built
in, so worry not.
Also to consider: Nokia 770.
Hope it helps,
Roy
[1] PalmSource and ACCESS recently announced plans to ditch Palm O/S and
embrace Linux, so I suggest you go in that direction. The Treo 700w
triggered some second thoughts in people's minds, but it's safe to call it
history.
