As for your observations regarding appearance, it was said a long time ago
that Vista was the transformation of Windows XP into something that would
make it difficult for Macheads to say OS X is 'sexier'. Vista, as its name
implies, is all about looks. No productivity gains and higher demands from
the hardware, too (which makes the eye candy costly, even financially). The
resource hog is a big flop rather than intent. I don't believe in this hoi
polloi about OEM's and Microsoft trying to force father sales.
