Well, maybe "purchase" is a bit strong. Microsoft did a deal with the
Spyglass people based on a royalty fee per browser sold. Microsoft gave
away IE to shaft Netscape, ergo - no royalty fees payable.

i believe they eventually forked over $2m to Spyglass to avoid a court
case.
