You should really just stop trying to interpret data.  You suck at it.

Your link does not say that PHP is "most popular among freelancers" or that
it's favored by programmers.  It says, that PHP is the most common type of
job offered by employers.  

While PHP *MAY* be favored by programmers, the link does not say that.
It's favored by the employers, and the programmers go wherever the work is
(especially since the vast majority of jobs on frelancejob go to people in
third world countries where they can survive on $10 a week and undercut
everyone else.)

It's not likely though.  I've never met a "real" programmer that knew PHP
that didn't think it sucked as a langauge.

Just more of your deceptive and inaccurate "journalism" style.
