Ageing PCs 'problem' for schools

This begs for the question: why renew? Here on campus, I have seen Pentium
3's thrown aside and replaced because they could not handle Windows XP (and
Office). I had a whole pile of them in my office, so they were essentially
treated like 'junk yard' material.
