That is the newest version so, as Roy mentioned, you may have found some
bugs so you may want to file some bug reports. Also you may want to look
into a forum dedicated to your distribution although if you're installing
from source and not using your distro's packaging system you may not get
much help.
Another thing, you could try running kmail from the command line and seeing
if it spits out any useful messages.
