This seems like a good and comprehensive guide to point people to. Have a
look. There is also a Ubuntu book, but it is not free and it lacks some of
the advantages of electronic form. The downside of this guide is that it
seems more command-line based, rather than oriented around the GUI. It gives
the reader in-depth knowledge of Linux.
