I have seriously looked at Xandros server for my own home server that needs
to be replaced soon. After sniffing around to see what is up and coming I
was torn between SLES10 and Xandros.
I have been moving all of my works servers from RHs and Suse9.3s to SLES10
because I am so impressed with it. But sort of fancied something else at
home (it's the boy in me).
Xandros was tempting on paper, but they don't do a demo/trial version of it
and I wouldn't be willing to pay for a server distro I have never seen and
pretty screen shots don't mean anything at all when your buying a server.
The difference with this server that I am planning is that I want to make
more use of server based apps at home and across the vpn.
Still very tempted to go Debian based but not with Xandros unless their rep
gets in touch and slips me a disc so I can look under the bonnet and make
sure it hasn't tried to be so much like an NT that it has forgotten us
Linux people.
