Don't forget that:

        1. power consumption is a factor, so speed will be affected.
           GNOME/xfce/KDE were rejected for a reason. I'm not sure how Fluxbox
           would have coped, but it's odd and unsuitable for newbees.

        2. The interface is built to be universal, i.e. little language
           and more symbolic cues.

Engadget and YouTube have a very solid infrastructure behind, so if you
encounter slowness, the issue is more likely to be associated with your ISP.
At least that would be the safe(r) guess to make when suspicion arises...
unless you can quickly try some (open) proxies.
