I think that mono, although designed to be .Net compatible is not .Net
itself.
Same situation was long time ago, at the birthtime of PC - patented by
IBM proprietary bios, and compatible solutions from Phoenix, AMI and
Award come to mind. I don't remember any problems caused by that situation.
