This reminds me of voluntary work various groups are doing in the US (and

It is nice to see an army of volunteers (even retired people) dedicating
their lives to helping others gain access to technology. Would you ever
expect corporations to do something similar without requiring something in
return (e.g. getting the customers locked in and highly-dependent)?
