Basic and .Net are no longer a barrier to Linux adoption. Not even
programs such as Excel (macros).

Emulation is not necessary. Past posts to this newsgroup indicate that
any Windows application can nowadays be ported to Linux, given some
free or commercial tools. The source code is, of course, still needed,
which is the reason why WinE still has a purpose.
