*LOL* Microsoft is on its way out. The Internet is only being opened at the
moment, not closed. The only time the Internet was shackled dates back to
Microsoft's violent onslaught on Netscape, for which they got (not
sufficiently harshly) punished.

Not the Internet though. And the EU is watching Microsoft's unethical moves
very closely, which leaves Ballmer and co. highly pressured. I wonder how
long it will take before the forced pushing of IE7 to people's desktops will
be criticised as well. The browser is /still/ designed to deliberately break
standards, as well impose inconveniences upon any competition.

Some governments exploit the same state of misinformation. The Chinese, for
example, limit the scope of content to which citizens are exposed. But they
are also on their way to shunning Microsoft altogether.
