I bet that Ballmer has already phoned MSNBC to demand clarifications for this
"incident".

People must now know that there are options out in the wild. It's too late
when it comes to Apple, but the platform which can conquer /any/ PC within
15 minutes (no costs associated either) is a greater risk.

It's no coincidence that you don't see Linux in the showroom. Microsoft
"strong insists" (to use a phrase Microsoft once used) that this must never
happen. Choice gives by OEM at online sales level is benign in comparion as
a brandname is different from a live demo.
