Sadly you've stumbled on the cesspit of USENET, aka comp.os.linux.advocacy.
This group was created to siphon off the sludge from the legit Linux
groups like comp.os.linux.misc and in most of the other groups,
comp.os.linux.advocacy is considered a joke. As you have discovered, there
is very little advocacy taking place in this group. The *News Bot* you
refer to is not a Bot at all, but a person who spends 24x7 posting to this
group. Some people find his posts useful. Most do not.
