I would only be natural for schools to give students skills that lower the
entry barrier, thereby allowing the student to work with similar software at
home. Moreover, with Linux, the student will not be tied to a company.
School have always antagonised branding and commercialisation, at least at
the schooling phase. /Generic/ skills are the key to valuable education. The
fact that it's also more affordable is just a nice bonus.
