Sun has been doing this sort of thing before Linus ever wrote his first
line of Linux code. Sun systems are very scalable and reliable. Take a
look at what most large companies run on their backend high-volume,
high-reliability systems and it's usually either a mainframe or
Solaris. (Not to discount AIX or anything.)
Linux is good and reliable and works for non mission critical systems
like mail servers, web-servers etc. But currently most large companies
still use time proven OS's for their must-have mission critical
applications. Simply put, they are more mature.
