While it is up to every Linux user to decide for themselves, whether they
are happy with the close connection between Novell and Microsoft, the
simple fact is that Linux needs some hardnosed support if it is going to
get past the boardroom doors. Novell is currently giving that support. This
is probably because their only chance of survival is to have Linux succeed.
Novell's close association with Microsoft has made it much easier to
convince PHB's to use Linux, where the technology is an advantage to the
project. Before the Novell/Microsoft agreement that task was very much more
difficult.
Like it or not, Novell's agreement with Microsoft is an aid to the long term
success of Linux.
