eBOX Platform Forms Its Board Of Directors

,----[ Quote ]
| The platform is designed by merging the simplicity of network appliances with
| the flexibility offered with Linux servers. At the moment the project has
| more than 40,000 downloads and a fastgrowing community of developers and
| users behind. Since June 2007 eBox Platform is being ported to Ubuntu, the
| most popular Linux distribution, and it is a good candidate to become the
| default tool for servers administration in Ubuntu.

| As far as the system itself is concerned, what you get is a RAC (Real
| Application Clusters) based appliance based on Linux, which uses PANTA's own
| blade servers that each support up to 6 InfiniBand planes, as well as a
| native InfiniBand-attached storage array.

As with most appliances, you rarely get told what runs underneath. Linux is
used more widely than people realise (especially in Asia).
