I just tried to open an attachment to a problem report in Word XP. It
asked me "Do you want me to install the converter needed to convert this
document?"

I said no, and the attachment comes up fine as an obvious ASCII text
document.

So now I do a szave as to save it elsewhere as text. I make sure to
specify that it save it with the "US-ASCII" encoding. The damn thing
got saved in Unicode. Cripes! I finally just copied the text to the
clipboard and pasted it into vim on Linux directly.

Also, that same dialog warned that things in RED would not convert.
However, there was no RED, so why the message?

I'm sure Office 2007 is /much/ better ;->>
