It has been a while, but some older code I was modifying was poorly
documented. In the process of "reverse engineering" it, I was inserting
comments with some diligent reblocking (indenting) so I understood what
was going on inside it and for future modifications. I was careful to
recompile it and compare checksums, to ensure I had not inadvertently
introduced additional bugs.
Yes, any new software is bound to have bugs in it.
