| While the computing world is suitably excited there is enough evidence at
| the moment to suggest that moving to Vista might be a bad idea if you're

Wow^tm, Bill, the programs and games no longer work.
The New and Unexplored World of Vista

| Would Microsoft have been better off with keeping XP as its primary
| supported OS and releasing frequent updates to it, sort of like what
| Apple has done with OS X? It may seem like a crazy idea, but it's
| worked for Apple. They may not have the most market share, but
| instead of feeling the need to reinvent their operating system
| each time in terms of its overall name, look, and feel, they've
| made smaller updates that have improved the OS as a whole. Microsoft
| should take notes from Apple?s example in this regard.

This very much resembles Linux as well. Frequent, regular (fixed roadmap),
and manageable updates. No 'big bang' approach with deadlines that lead to
bugs.
