[News] Open Source (GPL) Music Production is Doing Well

(Violet Composer:) James Holden's New Toy?

| The GPL also protects me from users by making it very clear that the
| software is not guaranteed to work in any way and that it was never
| provided as a commercial product - this is important so a
| technologically-challenged judge or lawyer can understand that I'm
| simply doing something I enjoy and that I can't be held responsible
| for other people's decisions to examine my software.
|
| So in a nutshell, I always wanted to make VC free, but by doing it
| as a GPL project on SourceForge I get access to all kinds of free
| services for hosting and developing the software, as well as
| protecting the rights of myself and my users for now and for
| the future.

Apparently, GPL software just gets more people's interest. Many others use
pirated proprietary software, which is often abandoned without hope of
future maintenance.

| try some, you might like it, and be sure to let the devels know
| how it works or doesn't work for you.
