Roy posts news articles (SYN)
Then people read them (SYN-ACK)
Then he responds (ACK).
He posts a lot of messages, but he responds with the correct handshake
protocol.
You simply dump a lot of SYNs and when people respond (SYN-ACK) you walk
away and begin dumping more SYNs, leaving the newsgroup threads in a half
open state.
