Yep - it sounds very "It could never happen, it would be The End of the
World", doesn't it - until you look more closely, and find that he simply
states the obvious....
- Corporations, government departments etc. would simply do what they are in
the process of doing anyway - switch to Linux and Open Standards.
- Servers would simply become even more Linux!
- Home users would be a bit divided. Many would likely go Mac. Others
would increasingly, and following the "what I use at work" philosophy, opt
for Linux.
- OEMs would offer a choice of a small number of distros, and that list for
any given OEM might be revised from time to time.
- Games would gravitate to games consoles, and those would increasingly have
the secondary function of a PC.
In short, it's happening already!
Microsoft? Yes, I remember Microsoft.... do you remember Sinclair?
