Last year, in a different newsgroup, someone joked about (the idea of) a
patent describing a method for wiping one's own arse. I think it was
mentioned in the context of patenting the swing.
With 40,000 (software?) patents that were accepted and passed last year, as
well as a filing frequency that's rapidly rising, we are yet to patent every
'method' under the sun, including variants.
At least we have Google's patents search. A few years from now (maybe a
generation) people will use this to joke at the expense of their ancestors.
They should already open a DRM museum, too. Gates has already taken care of
the Museum of 'Computing', probably attempting to rewrite history so that it
favours him. He did, after all, buy the media and the politicians around the
world, didn't he?
