Actually this is false.  MS is only providing free copies of XP to
those that can prove *HIGH QUALITY* piracy.  What signifies high
quality is not in the eye of the beholder, but in the eyes of Microsoft
cryptographic services.  You mush provide MS with all material
including media.  The MS message boards have posts almost daily about
people wanting replacement copies because of OEM or pre-installed
piracy and MS rejecting thier cases.

* Didn't get media - SOL
* Are in ASIA - SOL
* A business with many, high quality, copies - SOL
* Didn't know how to spot a "high quality" fake 4 years ago - SOL


But that's ok, each one of those is a potential convert to Linux or
Apple.  I don't even mind the Apple converts because each one
represents one more person who will demand standards compliance in web
design and  collaboration tools.
