Thanks for the feedback. I'll make some changes to the FAQ to
accommodate your rant, especially the opening to the FAQ. You make a
good point about there needing to be more emphasis placed on things
like superior security. But these other things you mentioned,
"OSS", "Millions of eyes", "Crappy MS
SW". I was wondering what you mean by these terms...
Now, of course I advertise on the website that I charge for LABOR. I
don't charge for the operating system. If you continue through the
FAQ, you'll find that I supply several video tutorials that will show
people how they can install it themselves. But for those who are not
technically savy, who don't care about the nuts and bolts, but just
want that "Bad ass looking 3D cube interface" and all the
rest that is great about Linux, I can charge them for the convince.
I think that's very fair. If you don't, I'm sorry.
I suppose you'd think it more fair if I were to offer free
installation to all who are interested. You'd probably be surprised
if I told you I've done that very thing. I've installed Ubuntu on
several machines for free, for clients who I've done work for in the
past. I am experimenting with making this the standard offer from
me. As in, "Free Ubuntu Install by Dave, as long as you live in
the Topeka area. No strings attached. It's my way of saying, 'Thank
you for allowing me to introduce myself and my other services (A+
services, CCNA Networking Services, etc.)'" That seems very
fair to me as well.
What do you think?
(P.S. This is Dave. I googled my domain name to see if anybody was
talking about it. I'd gladly listen to any more feedback from
anybody who cares to help me refine the website and make it more
appealing to Windows users).
