I got somewhat curious as to the notion of "plonking" and some minor
investigation led to the understanding that one can simply enter into a
"rule" that, say, any post from "schestowitz" or "kent" be discarded and
never appear in the list of posting. Thus there is no need to even see any
of the vapid commentary constantly produced by them. Only in the relatively
rare event that they evoke comments from others will the topic appear in the
subject list and then the first responder is also listed and one can easily
ignore those topics that were generated by schestowitz and responded by one
of the cola toadies who fawn over his postings. In the event that the toady
is kent himself, the subject remains hidden until someone else responds.
This drastically cuts down on the need to scan COLA very often and still one
does not miss a tick.
