Indeed. PCs are inherently durable, as is free software. By replacing
the non-durable Microsoft Windows with durable Free Software, then the
good (the PC) has been made more valuable to a customer, and can
therefore be sold on for more than the purchase price. The only
question being can the costs of installing the new software be recovered
and still leave a positive margin. On the basis that the initial
hardware was probably recovered at no charge, then the answer is most
likely "yes".
