I recently installed FreeSpire (I heard about them before but my interest
got rekindled when I heard about the Linspire-Microsoft deal) on an 7 year
old PC and I have to say it looks very impressive. They've really done a
much better job of hiding the technicalities of Linux than most other
distro's (including Ubuntu). The esthetics are also very good, something I
miss on many distro's (such as Puppy Linux, Damn Small Linux). It didn't
detect al my hardware as good as Puppy Linux (serial mouse didn't work) but
it's certainly the equal of Windows in terms of ease of use. It also
strengthens my belief that user-friendly Linux is merely a question of
polish, no major changes are needed.
