Precisely. OpenSolaris will be one among several factors that could pressure
him. Google tested OpenSolaris last year, so one way or another, concessions
will need to be made (even if it means farewell/pressuring TiVo). When GPLv3
becomes prevalent and widely adopted it will stay compatible with GPLv2, but
the coordinated attack on GPLv3 in the media (yes, Microsoft spends an
endless amount of money and energy on this) will cease to have venom.
Realistic appraisal will change perception. Nobody likes change. Not even
Linus, but it seems as though he reaches acceptance quite slowly.

Remember that GPLv3 is about the consumer (and the developer, at least in
part). It's not about people who sell Linux. Companies will always have the
temptation to take control over the consumer. Free software is intended to
prevent this.
