I just did a webcrawler search on the following:

   ps2 pc replacement

and

   ps3 pc replacement.


There were *no* relevant hits for the ps2 version, and about half the
first page for the ps3 *were* relevant, including the 2nd and 3rd hits.
I have no recollection of anyone regarding the ps2 as a serious pc
replacement, and I have no recollection of Sony or anyone else claiming
this.  In fact, the only time I can ever recall anything like that being
said is in your posting above.

However, the subject of ps3 as a pc replacement is all over the web -
just try the search string above.  My no2 son will have one as a pc
replacement in his bedroom in a few days.
