Buybacks don't last forever. IBM has begun with them as well (maybe the east
puts them under pressure). Sun considers 3 billion dollar worth of buybacks.
Microsoft began its buybacks last year and in the past 2 years it has lost
over half of its cash reserves. It's a quiet crisis. Old school companies
with old business models are living off their savings now. Whose pocket is
deepest? Sun goes open source and IBM support Linux at some level of
capacity. With kickbacks, possible fraud, and financial 'errors' Dell might
be kaput. Within years, maybe Linux will save it (differentiating factors),
but other OEMs will follow suit and hop on any wave they see.
